What do you like most about Boulder?
Barbara Bintliff Faculty: Law Library Resources, Library Technology Climate and scenery. And my friends. Hands down. |
Richard B. Collins Faculty: Constitutional & Indian Law Natural surroundings |
H. Patrick Furman Faculty: Criminal Clinics As they say in real estate, Location, Location and Location. Every time I come over Davidson Mesa on my way back to Boulder from Denver, the view of the city and the mountain backdrop -- Longs Peak and Rocky Mountain National Park to the North, the Indian Peaks Wilderness to the West, the Flatirons rising out of the plains at the edge of the city -- reminds me why I love this part of the world. Boulder has done as good a job as any town in the nation in trying to manage growth, and the greenbelt surrounding town allows Boulder to retain some degree of isolation even if the "big city" is just over the hill. And, of course, the other great thing about Boulder is that it is a college town, which means that there is a constant inflow of talented, smart, vibrant, searching, partying young people that keeps the town alive. The University attracts a large number of talented faculty as well, and the result is an extraordinary group of intelligent and interesting people in a relatively small community. |
Clare Huntington Faculty: Family Law, Immigration This is an extraordinary town. It is intellectually and culturally vibrant and is, literally, right next to the Rockies. I can hike from my house. I can also bike or drive to the University or downtown and attend free lectures, concerts, and art exhibits. |
Christopher B. Mueller Faculty: Evidence, Civil Procedure, Litigation Colorado Music Festival at Chautauqua in July and August every year (a program of classical music that is better than what you find in most big cities); the climate, the breathtaking views in all directions, the proximity to the mountains and the cultural life of Denver, the civic-mindedness of the citizens, the embrace of modern liberalism despite its obvious shortcomings, the responsiveness of local government and the people of Boulder to the challenge of handling urban sprawl and keeping Boulder livable. |
Scott R. Peppet Faculty: ADR, Contracts & Ethics I love almost everything about Boulder. I moved here from Boston, which I also loved. When I left Boston I thought I would miss it, etc. I haven't. I love the weather here--it is a ridiculous advantage over any other place in the country. I love the access to open space, and the lifestyle that creates. I really like the people. I like the fact that Boulder has protected a huge amount of land against development--sometimes at the expense of other things, granted, but still a major accomplishment. I love raising my kids here. |
Carolyn Ramsey Faculty: Criminal, Legal History, Gender Law & Public Policy Proximity to the gorgeous Rocky Mountains! Where else can you hit the slopes during the day and then come home to sip hot chocolate in front of a warm fire at night? (Okay, I have a gas log. I also have to work a lot. But you get the idea.) |
