What piece of advice would you give a student about moving to Boulder?
Lucienne Boyd Alumnus: Class of 2007 Get used to riding the bus. Boulder/Denver area has a very good bus system and you'll save a lot of money. |
Diane Lee Alumnus: Class of 2006 Housing is fairly easy to find. I looked at online ads of local newspapers and contacted Housing Helpers. I suggest during your first year to live fairly close to school and with roommates to help develop social ties and a support network. |
Sarah Mercer Alumnus: Class of 2007 You can find everything you need (e.g., apartment, furniture, skis) on Craig?s List (www.craigslist.org). |
Alison Ochs Alumnus: Class of 2005 I live in the Boulders apartment complex in north Boulder and love it! Some people enjoy living close to campus, but I highly recommend that you avoid living on ?the hill? unless you think you can balance an undergraduate lifestyle with the rigors of a legal education. |
Siddhartha Rathod Alumnus: Class of 2007 My wife and I found our place by driving around and looking at the different neighborhoods, we then saw a for rent sign and it was perfect. However if you are looking for a roommate, craigslist.com is a great site. |
Katie Roenbaugh Alumnus: Class of 2007 Start looking for places early, keep in mind that the bulk of the apartments in town are typically rented by undergraduates. Landlords love grad students, and you can use this fact to your advantage when negotiating rent. |
Laurie Rust Alumnus: Class of 2006 Come to Boulder and spend a weekend. Decide what is most important to you (central location, within walking / biking distance of school, close to shops, financial constraints). Walk around prospective neighborhoods and talk to people: Boulderites are incredibly friendly and willing to talk about their neighborhoods. |
Bonnie Sarkar Alumnus: Class of 2007 South boulder has more affordable housing and less traffic. |
Teresa Taylor Tate Alumnus: Class of 2006 With a family it is a little more complicated. We came out during the spring to find a house. We looked for an entire weekend in Boulder and the surrounding area. When we found a place that was clean, within our meager budget and close to school we took it immediately. Also, we choose to move out in June to give the family some time to adjust and get through the move before tackling the big change of law school. |
