Colorado Law announced this week the receipt of a $150,000 gift from the Denver law firm of Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP toward the realization of the School’s new Wolf Law Building . The donation was joined by matching gifts from First Bank Holding Company and individual Rothgerber partners and associates totaling an additional $184,000.
In presenting the gift Rothgerber Managing Partner Michael Nosler cited the firm’s longtime support of the Law School: “We are proud to continue the RJ&L legacy of support to Colorado Law. Our former partner, Ira Rothgerber, Jr., and his family were significant supporters of the law school for many years and we are delighted to contribute to the new law school building in their honor. We believe this much-needed new building will improve Colorado Law’s program and its ability to attract top students, produce quality lawyers, and ultimately enhance the legal profession in Colorado for years to come.” Dean David Getches accepted the check on behalf of the Law School, invoking the special ties that unite the two institutions. “The Law School and RJ&L proceed from a common ancestor. The Rothgerber name is constantly on the minds of our students and faculty as they attend the annual Rothgerber Conference, argue in the Rothgerber Appellate Competition, study in the Rothgerber addition to the Law Library. This donation reinforces a bond for which we are daily thankful and that carries us closer to our vision of a new home for the Law School,” said Getches.
The $334,000 gift represents an important step in the Law School’s campaign to raise $12.8m in private donations to complete construction on the Wolf Law Building scheduled to open in summer 2006. “This gift carries us into the homestretch,” said Julie Levine, CU Law’s Director of Development. “The Law School has already raised almost 75% of the money needed to complete the new law building. The groundswell of support from Colorado law firms like RJ&L accounts for more than $1m and carries us into the final phase of the capital campaign with a great spirit of optimism and momentum.”
