Colorado Law Mourns Greg Miller
Colorado Law mourns the loss of alumnus Greg Miller (’96), who died on February 7, 2012, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
An opera singer with a beautiful voice, Miller attended Moorhead State University on a scholarship and earned a bachelor’s degree in music. After graduating from Moorhead State, Miller came to Boulder, CO to pursue a law degree. He graduated from Colorado Law in 1996.
While at CU, Miller became an avid fan of the Colorado Buffaloes football team and followed the team’s progress devotedly. Miller’s passion for the Buffs remained even after he graduated and moved back to New Mexico. He and a few fellow Colorado Law alumni traveled to one away Buffs game each year. One of his friends, Vance Knapp (’94), fondly recalls those out-of-state journeys, “We traveled together all over the U.S. supporting our Buffs….We had some wild times on those CU road trips from Austin to Miami, to Tallahassee to Tempe to L.A..”
Upon returning to New Mexico in 1998, Miller founded his own business, Samba Safety. The company monitors the driving records of vehicle operators through software that rapidly screens and collates information on thousands of drivers. Miller sold the company to an investment firm in 2010 and left the company in the fall of 2011.
Miller’s family plans to gather friends to celebrate Greg’s life, likely in April in Colorado. In the meantime, his family created a facebook page (Greg Miller’s Memorial Page), and we encourage alumni to share stories and thoughts about Greg here. In lieu of flowers, Miller’s family requests that donations be made to Animal Humane New Mexico at 615 Virginia Street, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
