Colorado Law Celebrates Distinguished Alumni at 24th Annual Awards Banquet

March 31, 2005

On March 16, Colorado Law's Alumni Board (LAB) hosted the 24th Annual Alumni Award Banquet celebrating the accomplishments of alumni. It was the largest student-alumni event in the School?s history, signaling the spirit of enthusiasm and growth around the Law School.

During the banquet?s keynote address Law School Dean David Getches noted, ?The Law School is having a year of unbelievable success. It is downright exciting to be around the School these days. We won not one, but two Chancellor?s awards for diversity, one to the entire School and the other to the Latino Law Students Association. It has been a bumper year for our faculty. By every measure, the accomplishments of our colleagues are enormous. In the past year alone they have published more than a dozen books and at least fifty scholarly articles and book chapters. The spirit of service runs high. Indeed, we will lend Professor Allison Eid to alumnus John Suthers, our new Attorney General, who has appointed her Solicitor General. And we have just completed an enormously successful recruiting season and will be joined by four new faculty members next year! Our reason for doing all that we do is our students.?

The LAB presented Alumni Awards for Distinguished Achievement to Christopher A. Miranda ?82 (In Memoriam); Hon. Robert J. Kapelke ?66; Stanley L. Garnett ?82; and Rep. Alice Madden?89.
