Effie Seibold graduated from CU Law in 2007 after spending several years earning a master's degree in print and broadcast journalism at CU. As part of her professional project she performed a study of the history or Colorado's death penalty which was later published in the CU Law Review. After collaborating with some of Colorado's most influential anti-death penalty advocates, Effie realized she did not want to write about the amazing work public defenders were doing, she wanted to actively participate. Effie served as a deputy public defender and supervising attorney in the Golden office of the Colorado State Public Defender from 2007 until 2018, at which time she took on the role of training director. During her eleven years in the Golden trial office, Effie tried a wide variety of criminal cases, including everything from DUI to First Degree Murder. As county court supervisor, Effie mentored, trained, and supervised county court lawyers and interns. As training director her duties include providing training to interns, new hires, and juvenile defenders and engaging in juvenile defense policy work. Effie lives in Boulder with her husband and their two incredibly active little boys.
