After working for major law firms in Washington DC for the majority of her career, Marcela ("Marcy") Stras started her own firm Stras Legal LLC in Colorado where she continues to practice business immigration and international trade.

Stras has more than 25 years of experience as a port of entry lawyer counseling clients on business immigration, customs, export licensing, anti-boycott compliance, trade sanctions, dumping and countervailing duties, and other trade issues.

Stras worked in Washington, DC for 25 years representing U.S. and foreign clients before the federal agencies, including: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Customs and Border Protection, the International Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Department of Treasury, and the Department of State. She has appeared before the Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Stras served as a lawyer for the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Commerce, and has received awards from the International Law Section of the American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and Women in International Trade (WIIT). She was a founding member of WIIT and on the board of directors. She was also an Adjunct Professor at American University in Washington DC for five years.

Stras is currently the Programs Officer for the ABA's International Law Section and the founder and Chair of the International Animal Law Committee. She is on the Colorado State Board of the Humane Society of the United States, and serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado School of Law.
