Bio:Mindy Sooter is a partner and trial lawyer in the WilmerHale's IP litigation group. Mindy has degrees in electrical engineering and telecommunications and eight years of experience as an engineer in the computer science industry. Mindy's representative experience includes: - Winning a $12 million jury verdict for Clarisonic, a L'Oréal subsidiary, in PBL v. Nutra Luxe (W.D. Wash. 2012) after a jury found that a competitor of the Clarisonic product had engaged in willful patent infringement, willful trade dress infringement, and intentional false advertising. - Winning summary judgment of non-infringement for Thomson Reuters in TimeBase v. Thomson (D. Minn. 2011), a patent case involving over 100 asserted claims and two patents relating to multidimensional database technology. The dismissal was upheld on appeal in TimeBase v. Thomson (Case No. 2012-1082) (Fed. Cir. 2012). - Winning complete dismissal on behalf of defendant Zoll, in Medcorp v. Zoll (D. Colo. 2011), a case involving the technical performance of distributed computer systems running emergency management software. - Winning summary judgment and complete dismissal of a $20 million licensing claim on behalf of LabCorp in LabCorp v. Metabolite Labs. (D. Colo. 2008), a case involving homocysteine assays. The dismissal was upheld on appeal in LabCorp v. Metabolite Labs. (Case No. 10-1194) (10th Cir. 2010). Mindy has litigated in courts throughout the U.S., including the International Trade Commission (ITC). Representative clients include: NETGEAR, JDSU Uniphase, NetApp, Thomson Reuters, Pacific Bioscience Labs. (a subsidiary of L'Oréal), LabCorp, Zoll, and CableLabs. Representative technologies include: - Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers - Solid State Tunable Lasers - Phased Array Antennas - Wireless Routers - Firewalls & Gateways - Transistors - Distributed Security and Registration Software - Multidimensional Database Technology - Video over IP - Various standards including IP, Ipsec, 802.11, and DOCSIS
