While attending law school at night, Ms. Hershey served as a risk manager and compliance officer for a regional trauma center. Today, she regularly represents health care entities and licensed health care professionals including chiropractors, dentists, mental health providers, nurses, pharmacists, and physicians in malpractice lawsuits and administrative matters involving licensing, privileges, and regulatory investigations.
Ms. Hershey also assists clients in drafting and analyzing legislation, evaluating health care compliance matters; providing risk management; and drafting and negotiating contracts. Ms. Hershey has testified about health matters before various regulatory agencies and committees of the Colorado General Assembly.
Appellate Practice Ms. Hershey interned at the Colorado Court of Appeals and has an active appellate practice. With more than 10 published decisions, she has filed appellate briefs in federal and state court relating to various health care issues from peer review protections and confidentiality of health information in malpractice lawsuits to Colorado's wrongful death legislation.
Other activities Ms. Hershey teaches Health Law at the University of Colorado Law School and participates in educating graduating medical students in risk management issues. She is a volunteer with Colorado Lawyers for Colorado Veterans and serves as mentor through the Colorado Mentoring Program.
Ms. Hershey regularly lectures and writes on health related topics. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association / Health Law Section, the Douglas-Elbert Counties Bar Association, and the Colorado Women's Bar Association.
