Steve Carlin practiced complex commercial and corporate trial and appellate work for 30 years. He tried cases before federal and state court judges and juries, federal bankruptcy courts and AAA and FINRA arbitration panels. Based in Dallas, Texas, Steve tried cases in both Texas and before courts across the country. He argued appeals before the appellate and Supreme courts of Texas, as well as the federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Loathe to specialize in a single field, Steve's wide-ranging practice included cases concerning federal and state securities law, corporate finance, asset-back securities, patent and trademark, health care, entertainment, professional sports, labor and employment, manufacturing, software systems, real estate and construction.
Steve also spent two years as general counsel and chief technology officer of WorldClinic, a Web 1.0 startup that has successfully operated since 1998. Steve was responsible for all legal and technology matters, including domestic and international medical practice and insurance issues, corporate fundraising and finance and systems design and implementation.
Throughout his career, Steve hired and mentored dozens of new lawyers. At his last firm, Greenberg Traurig, Steve became head of the Dallas office litigation group and later served for several years as managing shareholder of that office.
After retiring from practice, Steve became an adjunct professor teaching Business Torts and Agency & Partnership at Catholic University's Columbus School of Law in Washington DC.
