Bio:
Jon Olafson is a partner in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois, where he serves as the office's Administrative Partner. Olafson regularly counsels clients on domestic and international trade secret protections, corporate espionage, data & cybersecurity, employment law, and how to handle situations where a client's most valuable materials are threatened by internal and external sources. Olafson also counsels his clients on business-related disputes, including those that involve business torts like intentional interference, defamation (personal and commercial), fiduciary duty breaches, conversion, civil theft, and shareholder disputes. Olafson is an experienced complex commercial and corporate litigator, which includes successfully prosecuting and defending preliminary injunctions and complex matters in state and federal court.
Olafson is also very involved in the community. He currently serves on the Colorado Bar Association's Executive Council as an at-large member, the Board of Governors representative for the Colorado Bar Association Labor and Employment Section, and on the CBA's Budget Committee. As part of his role on the CBA's Executive Council, Olafson also chairs the Racial Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee. Since 2020, Olafson is also a Bar Fellow with the Colorado Bar Foundation. Olafson is also active with the Colorado LGBT Bar Association and was named the Association's Attorney of the Year in 2021. Olafson is also a participating member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the Sam Cary Bar Association, and the Colorado Women's Bar Association. Olafson also serves on the Board of Directors for the Nathan Yip Foundation, where he serves as the current President. In 2021, Olafson also joined the Board of Directors for Opera Colorado and is currently an Emeritus Director for the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, where he served as President for nine years.
In his spare time, Olafson enjoys hiking Colorado's mountains, paddle boarding area lakes, and spending time outdoors with his partner, family, friends, and his trusty canine sidekick Elske. He is also an avid college sports fan, with his loyalties being with the University of North Dakota and Texas Tech University.
