Bio:
As Executive Director for Colorado District Attorneys Council (CDAC), Tom oversees a staff of twenty-one employees, including six attorneys, an eleven person IT department and support staff. CDAC is responsible for the training of the state's nearly eight-hundred prosecutors as well as representing the interests of the twenty-two elected District Attorneys on legislative issues at the state Capitol.
In his role at CDAC, Tom serves on numerous task forces and committees related to criminal justice issues and legislative issues including the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, and often testifies as a subject matter expert in legislative hearings. Tom is a member of the Executive Board of the National Association of Prosecutor Coordinators (NAPC), sits on the Public Policy Committee of that organization and is the organization's National President for 2018/19.
Prior to coming to work for CDAC, Tom worked for Colorado Attorney General John Suthers from 2007-2010 as the Deputy Attorney General in charge of the Criminal Justice Section. From 2002-2006, Tom served as the elected District Attorney for the 7th Judicial District in Colorado. (Gunnison, Montrose, Ouray, Delta, Hinsdale and San Miguel counties.) Prior to these positions Tom operated a small private law firm in Gunnison, Colorado. He is a 1993 graduate of Lewis and Clark, Northwestern School of Law in Portland, Oregon. Tom is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Tom also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado Law School.
