Julie Simmons is Head of Legal for Stairwell, an enterprise cybersecurity platform provider that enables threat monitoring and hunting across a company's network and through time. Previously, Julie was Associate General Counsel at Red Canary, a Denver-based MDR provider. Prior to that she was Corporate Counsel at Webroot, a global antivirus and threat intelligence company, which Julie supported through acquisitions by Carbonite and later OpenText. Julie also practiced as an associate at the Sage Law Group, focusing primarily on technology contracts and intellectual property licensing. Having served as both in-house and outside counsel for tech companies at all stages of growth, Julie has a broad range of experience working at the intersection of law and business, particularly in cybersecurity and SaaS. As in-house counsel, Julie has enjoyed the opportunity to work as a true generalist, managing procurement and commercial contracting processes, compliance functions, equity compensation, corporate governance, and international expansion, as well as handling issues related to data privacy, intellectual property, employment law, M&A, etc. Julie is a proud "triple Buff" having earned her BA, MBA, and JD all at the University of Colorado Boulder. She lives in Boulder with her husband, Tim, and their two children. Most mornings you'll find Julie taking in the sunrise while running on Boulder's beautiful trails.
