2013 Knous Award Honoring Chief Justice Michael Bender

Presented annually to a distinguished graduate of the law school, the William Lee Knous Award was established in memory of alumnus William Lee Knous, former Colorado governor, Colorado Supreme Court justice, Colorado legislator, and U.S. district court judge.

Dean Phil Weiser describes this year's recipient, Chief Justice Michael L. Bender of the Colorado Supreme Court, as an alumnus who exemplifies the very qualities embodied by the award?service, professionalism, integrity, and dedication to community. Bender, a former public defender and private lawyer, was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1997 and became Chief Justice in 2010.
