State Constitutional Law
General Description:
This course explores the fundamentals of state constitutional law. We examine the unique provisions, processes, and politics of these important yet understudied documents, and how they fit within a larger federal system. The course covers rights and structure, as well as themes like democracy and federalism. We study the role of state constitutions in recurring policy debates, such as criminal justice and good government, and emerging areas, like bodily autonomy and climate change. 3 credits, letter graded.
