Classnotes for 1958

Current, Howard C.   September 4, 2009
Howard C. Current, 81, passed away on September 2, 2009. He was surrounded by his large and loving family as they celebrated his triumphant entry into eternal life. He was born January 25, 1928 in Wichita, Kansas to Edgar Clayton and Velma M. (Howard) Current. Howard graduated from Wichita State University with his bachelor?s degree in 1950. He then honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Howard returned to school following his military service and graduated from CU Law School in 1958. He married Jean Wathan on July 3, 1951. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1994. He then married Sharon Sunshine on August 12, 1995 in Longmont. Howard was a lifetime resident of Longmont. He also was an accomplished attorney and judge, practicing law for over 50 years, from 1958 until his death. In addition to his private law practice, Howard held many positions within the judicial system including: Longmont Municipal Judge and Justice of the Peace, City Prosecutor in Longmont, Deputy Prosecutor in the Boulder County District Attorney?s office and Boulder County District Court Judge. He was Past President of the Kiwanis Club, the Boulder County Bar Association, the CU Buff Club and the Jaycees. He was also active in many community organizations and boards where he gave of his time and talents. He attended New Creation Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean; and a brother, Rick. Survivors include his wife, Sunny Current of Longmont; six children, Jenny Current of Longmont, Polly Current of Aurora, Jeff Current (Alison) of Isla Mujeres, Mexico, Joe Current (Shelly) of Longmont, Amy Armijo (Jerry) of Louisville and Dan Current (Diane) of Wasilla, Alaska; fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and Sunny?s family, Steve Roberts, Jeff Roberts, Melissa Cervantes and their families. Memorial Service will be 5PM Saturday, September 5 at New Creation Church, 737 Bross Street. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
