Mike Spivey joined Colorado Law as the Assistant Dean for Outreach and Engagement. In this capacity, Dean Spivey is responsible for the external relationships and marketing of the law school. Dean Spivey also chairs the External Affairs Committee and is a member of the Dean’s Cabinet. Dean Spivey’s foremost priority as Assistant Dean is to cultivate relationships with employers across all spectrums and to introduce opportunities for Colorado Law to partner with law firms, governmental agencies, corporations, and non-profit institutions.
Dean Spivey graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Philosophy, and continued his education at The University of Alabama, where he received his M.B.A with concentrations in marketing and communications. Dean Spivey started his academic career teaching Business Ethics at the University of Alabama before returning to Vanderbilt to work for eight years in the Vanderbilt University Law School Admissions Department. Prior to joining Colorado Law, Spivey served as Assistant Dean for Career Services, Strategy, and Marketing and Assistant Dean for External Outreach at Washington University School of Law.
Dean Spivey has completed his coursework towards a Doctor of Education degree from Vanderbilt University, has been a guest speaker at colleges throughout the nation, has served as an educational consultant for numerous law schools, is an honorary member of the Blackburn Society recognized for his ethics in leadership, and serves on the LexisNexis Advisory Board.
