Jackson, Spivey Pursuing New Opportunities
This month, Colorado Law congratulates and bids farewell to two valued members of its community, Scholar-in-Residence Darrell “DJ” Jackson and Assistant Dean Mike Spivey. Both men will be leaving Colorado Law in August to pursue new opportunities.
Jackson will be joining the faculty at the University of Wyoming College of Law. Jackson, a former assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia, served as the director of public sector and diversity outreach at Colorado Law, and taught Race and American Law at the law school. In his new position at the University of Wyoming, Jackson will serve as the director of the Prosecution Assistance Program and teach Criminal Adjudication and Criminal Procedure.
“DJ was a valued part of our community,” said Colorado Law Dean Phil Weiser. “I thank him for his outstanding contributions during his time with the law school, and congratulate him on his new position.”
Spivey, assistant dean for outreach and engagement, is launching his own consulting firm at the end of August. Spivey’s foremost role as assistant dean was to cultivate relationships with employers across all spectrums, and to introduce opportunities for Colorado Law to partner with law firms, government agencies, and corporate legal departments.
“Colorado Law benefitted greatly from Mike’s knowledge and expertise, and we congratulate him on his new venture,” said Weiser. “Working with Mike was a real pleasure.”
Spivey’s new firm, the Boulder-based Spivey Consulting Group, will focus on providing cutting-edge admissions and employment strategies for students, law school administrators, and career services departments.
“We will miss DJ and Mike,” remarked Weiser, “but I’m confident that both of them will remain a part of our extended Colorado Law family in the years to come.”
