The Law School proudly welcomed several hundred campus leaders, students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the legal community to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Wolf Law Building on Friday, November 12th. The ceremony was held at the new building site on the southeast side of the existing Fleming Law Building. Dean David Getches welcomed the gathered Law School community and thanked all of those who have made it possible for the Law School to begin construction on its new facility. CU President Elizabeth Hoffman similarly congratulated
the Law School community for its perserverence. Chancellor Richard Byyny thanked the alumni and other donors who have made the building possible, and, along with Dean Getches and President Hoffman, expressed special thanks to the students of the University of Colorado who, through the UCSU, have stepped forward to pay for a significant portion of this and other campus capital construction projects through a special student fee. Student Tri-Executive Joe Neguse and Law School Student Bar Association President Crisanta Duran spoke about the amazing support that students across the University have given to this project, and to the testament that the constructed Law School will be
to the students' leadership. Finally, Colorado Supreme Court Justice Michael Bender offered remarks on the importance of the rule of law to our society and on the importance of this new facility to the lawyers
and people of Colorado. The new building project is proceeding at a rapid pace. Construction is expected to begin in February of 2005. The existing law school expects to move into the new facility in August of
2006, in time to begin the 2006-2007 school year. We are incredibly grateful to all who have made this project possible. For more information on the New Building Project, visit our webpages on the new building!
