The law is immersed in the "us vs them" paradigm and few major revisions have taken place in the practice of law in decades. The strongest advocate, or most zealot warrior, still seeks to prevail in a winner take all arena. People leave the system feeling betrayed or wounded. Lawyers, around year eight, hit the skid and they question if they can continue to practice. This talk by Eric Sirotkin, the author of Witness: A Lawyers Journey from Litigation to Liberation, presents a new approach to conflict and advocacy that builds rather than destroys, and each interaction, conflict and contact enriches the practitioners and helps us build ourselves up as human beings and as lawyers. Eric, who worked extensively with the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, will describe how he applies these principles to everyday practice as well as peace building on an international level, including the current standoff in Korea. Please Join CU Law NLG and Doman International Law Society in CU Law Room 205 Food provided! (And don't forget to come by the MAC from 6-8pm in Schaden Commons to meet Eric and other local NLG members!) .
