All are invited to help with the 2017 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Volunteers must first receive IRS tax training to provide free tax help for low-to-moderate income families who need assistance preparing their tax returns. Two tax training sessions will be held at Leeds Business School in KOBL 320 on January 21, 2017 (9am-12pm) or January 28, 2017 (9am-12pm). Volunteers only need to attend one of these sessions. After successful completion, volunteers will be certified tax preparers. The VITA program will start January 30, 2017 through April 2017 (Mondays from 5pm-7:30pm and Saturdays from 9:30am-1pm) at Leeds Business School. No tax experience is needed. This is a great opportunity to get service hours and exposure to the tax field! Interested persons should email camille.gregory@colorado.edu by December 1st to reserve a spot for training. Faculty and Staff are also invited to get trained to be volunteer tax preparers.
