Just between January and September 2016, we have witnessed numerous cases of police shooting allegedly unarmed Black Men and we have heard escalating rhetoric that disparages immigrants and people–of-color. As we watch and listen to these events on our chosen form of media, we cannot help but be impacted in some way. As citizens who are “in the world” and as law students who are preparing yourselves to counsel and advocate for clients who may be different from yourselves, how are you processing all of this? Do you have someone to talk with about what you are seeing, hearing and feeling? Would you like to be able to share your opinions, your confusion, your comfort or discomfort with others in a safe environment where you can be heard and where you can listen and learn from others? Let’s Talk About It” is a safe and spontaneous gathering of students, faculty, administration, and staff to share - to hear and be heard. The floor will be open to anyone who wants to speak. The only rules are to be respectful and professional in what you say and do and to leave the comments and opinions of others in Room 205 when you leave. Bring your lunch and drink and join us. You are welcome.
