Business and Transactional Law: What I Wish I Knew

This event has ended.

When Wednesday, October 5, 2016
5:15 PM - 7:15 PM
Location Schaden Commons
For Students; Career Development

Transactional attorneys often lament that they wish they'd known a number of things earlier in their careers: which courses to take during law school, where and how to network, how to learn about business and future clients, and how to position oneself for a transactional career.

Now in its eighth year, this program has proven very popular with attendees. The core of the event is small group break-out sessions. The event will host approximately 12 experienced transactional attorneys and business people. Students will meet with the guests in small groups and will rotate from one guest expert to the next every 15 minutes (kind of like speed dating). This approach gives students a chance to ask direct questions and learn from a variety of transactional lawyers and business people.

The event provides helpful information about what transactional lawyers do, flexible ways to use the JD outside of traditional jobs, and what Colorado Law offerings exist in the area. This event is highly recommended for students - especially 1Ls and 2Ls - interested in transactional law, policy work, in-house counsel and business career paths.

Since the event will be catered with light hors d'oeuvres, please RSVP HERE so we will know how much food to provide. However, if you decide to join us late in the game or on the day of the event, you are still welcome!

This event is co-sponsored by the Career Development Office, the Silicon Flatirons Center, and the Business Law Society. The event is business casual.
