Professional Client Interactions

This event has ended.

When Tuesday, November 10, 2015
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Location Room 304
For Faculty; Staff; Students; Alumni

For many students and junior attorneys, their first interactions with clients can be intimidating. Three speakers will help shed some light on professional client interactions. Topics will include the attorney-client relationship and role of the lawyer, the varying types of interactions that are appropriate depending on the client, recognizing differing levels of client sophistication and understanding of legal concepts, professional communication, responsiveness, maintaining boundaries, and “soft skills” like empathy, respect, sense of responsibility, accountability, confidence, and self-awareness. Our session will include a segment of role-playing exercises, where students will break into groups with a panelist and practice some common client scenarios.

LUNCH PROVIDED! Please RSVP to melanie.kay@colorado.edu so that we may obtain an accurate lunch count.
