For twenty years, women have been graduating law schools at or near the same levels as men. Yet women’s ranks in partnership and leadership positions continue to hover at about 15%. Are there other ways to value and reward women and other under-represented groups to increase their participation at partnership and leadership levels? Could we change the numbers if we changed how we value and measure successful contributions? Inspired by author Michael Lewis’s approach to baseball recruiting (Moneyball) and his NY Times article about NBA player Shane Battier (“The No-Stats All-Star”), this panel discussion will consider alternative metrics for measuring success and valuing participation, apart from the usual billable hours and rainmaking metrics that to date have not resulted in representative leadership of women and minorities. Lunch included.
