You thought you made it clear that you would deliver that brief quickly, so why is there a question about your ability to meet timelines? You are focused on being a great attorney, so why is nobody coming to you to acknowledge your hard work? You sent a text to ask for help on a case, but never heard back from anyone to offer the support you needed; what’s up with that? The gap between what you believe you have communicated and what is actually understood is very often a Generational Gap. Research indicates that people communicate based on their generational backgrounds. Each generation has distinct attitudes, behaviors, expectations, habits and styles. This presentation will help students understand how to communicate with the different generations which can eliminate many major confrontations and misunderstandings in the workplace and the world of business. You will also hear what it is like from the perspective of a woman and a member of the LGBT community to navigate the generational communication challenges. Four generations are now working side-by-side in the workplace. Now is the time to learn the language of each generation and to develop the communication skills needed to support you in being understood, effective and in knowing how to use your voice.
