Dr. Barbara Farhar will present her study of highly energy-efficient homes from 2001-2006. The study focused on builder experience, market response to high-performance homes, increases in home values over time, and the consumption and cost of electricity and gas in the high-performance and adjacent comparison homes. Dr. Farhar teaches graduate social science research methods at the University of Colorado, and has directed research on technology-society interactions and the diffusion of innovations for more than 25 years. She was the Senior Policy Analyst and Senior Social Scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Dr. Farhar is considered the national expert on public perceptions and preferences on renewable energy in the United States, particularly as it links to environmental policy.
