Legal Research Skills for Practice
General Description:
Approaches legal research from a practice-focused perspective by tackling topics and acquiring skills useful for conducting legal research in practice. Through hands-on and group activities and other instructional methods, students will explore: How to find and use resources specific to a particular practice area; how to evaluate and weigh strengths and weaknesses of the various legal resources available; and, how to use legal resources efficiently. Includes research analysis, planning strategies and methods, primary and secondary resources, transactional resources, and research using library catalogs and Westlaw Next, Lexis Advance, Bloomberg Law and a variety of other online resources as well as print resources.
